Roundtable event on elections and digital misinformation in Paphos
The Neapolis University Paphos (NUP) Human Rights Observatory, in collaboration with Fact Check Cyprus, the Institute for Political and Democracy Studies, and CARDET, is hosting a roundtable event titled 'Elections, Misinformation and Digital Platforms'. The event is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026, at 18:00, in the 'Keryneia' Amphitheatre at the university. Participants will discuss techniques of electoral misinformation, the role of television and digital platforms, and the responsibilities of national Digital Services Coordinators. The dialogue will also cover the scope of fact-checking and the balance between media regulation, freedom of expression, and democratic protection. The event will open with a welcome address by George Pavlidis, Chair of the Department of History, Politics and International Studies at NUP. Confirmed speakers include Andri Aristidou and Michalis Lambrianidis from the Radio Television and Digital Services Authority, alongside Eleni Gavriel, Head of the NUP Human Rights Observatory.
