Trial of two businessmen in Larnaca postponed until June 17

The trial of two businessmen, aged 47 and 43, involving incidents near the Larnaca police headquarters on January 17, has been rescheduled for June 17. The postponement was granted by the Larnaca District Court after defense counsel requested additional evidentiary material. The defendants face charges of interfering with judicial proceedings and conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, both of which they deny. The 47-year-old suspect also faces a charge of illegal possession of property, following the discovery of 103,915 euros in cash and 42 checks totaling 560,000 euros in his office, which police suspect are stolen goods. He has pleaded not guilty to this charge as well. As part of their release conditions until the trial date, each businessman must pay an 80,000 euro cash bail and has been placed on a travel ban list. They are required to surrender their travel documents and report to a police station twice a week. The alleged offenses regarding interference with legal proceedings are linked to events on January 21, 2026.
