Iran threatens retaliatory strikes on foreign-linked banks

On Wednesday, a spokesperson for Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters, Ebrahim Zolfaqari, announced that Iran intends to target economic and banking interests associated with the United States and Israel in the region. This statement follows an overnight attack on an administrative building connected to Bank Sepah in Tehran. Bank Sepah is one of Iran's largest public financial institutions and maintains historical ties to the Iranian military. The Iranian authorities have characterized the incident as an act of aggression by foreign forces. In response, the military command has issued a warning to civilians in the region, advising them to maintain a distance of at least 1,000 metres from banks. No international group or government has claimed responsibility for the strike on the facility. The threat marks a significant escalation in tensions regarding the protection of regional financial infrastructure.
