Turkish military movements reported in northern Cyprus

A convoy of upgraded ACV-15T1 armoured fighting vehicles was filmed moving along the Morphou–Lefka road in the Turkish-occupied area of Cyprus. The vehicles, which have been upgraded by Turkish companies Aselsan and FNSS with new electro-optical systems, remote weapon stations, and enhanced armour, were sighted as part of increased regional activity. Reports also highlight the recent deployment of six Turkish F-16 fighter jets to Ercan (Tymbou) airport and the installation of new monitoring systems in the Eastern Mediterranean. Turkish officials have cited security requirements due to Middle East developments for these operational enhancements. Meanwhile, US Democratic Representative Gregory Meeks has formally criticised the deployment during a House Foreign Affairs Committee session. Meeks described the military mobilisation as a move that undermines Cypriot sovereignty and increases regional tension, calling for a reversal of these actions. The incident reflects broader concerns regarding the balance of power in the region.
