Etek hosts European workshop on BIM adoption for small firms
The Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (Etek) hosted an EU BIM Task Group workshop titled 'Scaling BIM Down: Making BIM work for small firms and small projects' on February 26, 2026. The event aimed to promote the adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the construction sector. Representatives from seven countries attended the workshop, alongside the two co-chairs of the EU BIM Task Group steering committee. Opening addresses were delivered by Thrasos Afamis from the Department of Public Works, Platonas Stylianou of the ECCE and Etek, and Andreas Theodotou, General Secretary of Etek. Participants engaged in discussions to identify practical BIM solutions and drafted common proposals for smaller-scale projects. The event highlighted that the digital transition through BIM is essential for firms of all sizes, not just large-scale infrastructure projects. Etek acts as the official representative for Cyprus in the EU BIM Task Group. The workshop served as a platform for open dialogue and the sharing of experiences regarding digital tools in construction.
