United States military expenditures in conflict with Iran
Military operations between the United States and Iran, which began on February 28 in coordination with Israel, have resulted in significant financial expenditures. Department of Defense officials informed the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee that costs reached at least 11.3 billion dollars during the first six days. Separate reports indicate that 5.6 billion dollars in ammunition were expended within the first two days of the engagement alone. Senator Chris Coons noted that the 11.3 billion dollar figure is an estimate and that total operational costs are likely higher. Members of Congress have expressed concerns regarding the depletion of U.S. defense stockpiles and the inability of the defense industry to meet increased demand. President Donald Trump met with representatives from seven defense firms to discuss replenishing supplies. The White House is expected to request approximately 50 billion dollars in additional funding, though some legislators believe this amount may be insufficient.
