European leaders hold teleconference on economic competitiveness and Middle East stability
President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides participated in a teleconference with European leaders to discuss strategies for enhancing the European economy and industrial base. The initiative was spearheaded by the Chancellor of Germany, the Prime Minister of Italy, and the Prime Minister of Belgium. This meeting followed an earlier discussion held in February in Alden Biesen, Belgium, prior to an informal European Council meeting. The primary objective was to coordinate positions ahead of the March European Council, where decisions regarding EU economic resilience, industrial support, and competitiveness policies are expected. Participants also addressed issues including energy prices, the completion of the single market, and the reduction of bureaucratic burdens for businesses. President Christodoulides emphasized that regional instability in the Middle East directly impacts the European economy and the competitiveness of the Union.
