Societe Generale Bank Cyprus adopts four-day work week

The banking union ETYK and Societe Generale Bank Cyprus have ratified a new collective agreement for the period 2023–2027. Approved by 96% of union members in a secret ballot, the agreement introduces a four-day work week during July and August. Under the new model, employees will work four days per week on a rotating basis while keeping their current daily working hours. The bank confirmed that salaries and benefits for staff will remain unchanged, and customer services will continue to operate as normal throughout the week. Union officials described the policy as the first of its kind to be institutionalized through a collective agreement in either the public or private sector in Cyprus. The union stated that the measure is intended to improve work-life balance for employees. ETYK also expressed the view that this agreement could serve as a precedent for other banks and organizations in the country to adopt similar working models in the future.
