EU macroeconomic dialogue held in Brussels on artificial intelligence and labor markets
On Monday in Brussels, representatives from the Council Presidency, the European Central Bank, the European Commission, and the Eurogroup met with European social partners. The meeting was chaired by Cyprus Finance Minister Makis Keravnos. Participants discussed current economic conditions and the impact of artificial intelligence on the EU labor market. A key focus of the session, selected by the Cypriot Presidency, was balancing EU competitiveness with social cohesion. Minister Keravnos noted that while economic forecasts have improved, ongoing geopolitical tensions necessitate caution. He emphasized that the integration of artificial intelligence must be supported by investments in skills, education, and retraining. The discussions underscored the importance of close collaboration between governments, institutions, and social partners to manage these technological shifts.
