President of Cyprus meets with UAE foreign minister
On Monday, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos met with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia. The discussion focused on regional security amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. According to regional reports, the UAE has faced over 1,000 ballistic missile strikes this month, with the country declaring a state of defense on Sunday. While the UAE declared these strikes a direct threat to its national security, it emphasized a desire to remain neutral in the broader conflict. President Christodoulides reaffirmed Cyprus's solidarity with the UAE and the broader Gulf region. Both parties underscored the necessity of diplomacy to ensure regional stability. Cyprus continues to position itself as a strategic partner in the Eastern Mediterranean during this geopolitical crisis.
