Turkish Cypriot authorities criticize Nicosia over military cooperation and defense spending

The Turkish Cypriot foreign ministry has issued a statement condemning the Republic of Cyprus for its recent increase in multi-billion euro defense spending and for granting military access to foreign nations including the United States, Israel, and France. The statement rejected President Nikos Christodoulides' characterization of Turkey as an occupying power, instead describing the 1974 military action as a peace operation.
