Honorary committee announced for the 2026 European Throwing Cup in Nicosia

The Cyprus Amateur Athletics Association (KOEAS) has established an honorary committee for the 2026 European Throwing Cup. The event is scheduled to take place on March 14 and 15, 2026, at the GSP National Stadium in Nicosia, marking the second consecutive year that Cyprus hosts this competition. The honorary committee includes Minister of Education, Sport and Youth Athena Michaelidou, Cyprus Sports Organization President Yiannis Ioannou, Cyprus Olympic Committee President George Chrysostomou, and Strovolos Mayor Stavros Stavrinides. The committee serves a symbolic and institutional role to support the organization of the event. KOEAS President Periklis Markaris stated that hosting the event for a second year demonstrates confidence in Cyprus’s athletics infrastructure. The tournament is expected to attract elite athletes and national teams from across Europe. Local athletes will have the opportunity to compete against international participants. Preparations are focused on meeting high European technical standards for the competition.
