Cyprus vehicle license renewal deadline and progress update

The Cyprus Department of Road Transport has announced that the deadline for renewing vehicle licenses for 2026 is Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at midnight. As of March 8, 2026, a total of 677,133 licenses have been renewed, a decrease from the 680,670 renewals recorded by the same date in 2025. Licenses can be renewed for periods of three, six, nine, or twelve months. To renew, vehicle owners must provide a valid certificate of roadworthiness and proof of insurance. Payments made after the March 11 deadline will incur a penalty fee consisting of 10 euros plus 10 percent of the renewal cost. Owners who do not intend to renew their 2026 licenses are required to notify the department to declare their vehicle immobilized. Renewals can be processed online or in person at district transport offices, citizen service centers, and citizen information centers.
