Cyprus National Guard to acquire Kentavros anti-drone system

The Cyprus National Guard is expected to procure the Kentavros anti-drone system, developed by the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI), to enhance defenses against unmanned aerial threats. While the acquisition has been reported by local media, the specific quantity of units to be purchased has not yet been determined. Designed in the early 2020s, the Kentavros system is an electronic warfare platform originally intended for naval use but adaptable for land-based platforms and fixed military installations. On February 2, the system was successfully integrated with the BARAK-MX air and missile defense system, which is currently operated by the Cyprus National Guard. The system functions through passive detection and radio-frequency jamming to neutralize reconnaissance or combat drones. It is capable of detecting targets at ranges of up to 150 kilometers and performing electronic jamming at distances of up to 25 kilometers. The technology is specifically designed to counter NATO Class 2 and Class 3 drones, including large military models like the Bayraktar. The system can track and jam multiple targets simultaneously by disrupting communication, navigation, and GPS signals.
