Revised housing schemes for rural, mountainous, and remote areas announced

On March 2, 2026, the Ministry of the Interior of Cyprus launched updated housing schemes aimed at revitalizing mountainous, remote, disadvantaged, and rural areas. These programs, which have been in operation since 2019, provide financial assistance for permanent housing based on income criteria and family composition. Between 2019 and 2025, a total of 2,892 applications were submitted, with 2,027 approved, resulting in approximately 77 million euros in subsidies. Recent improvements to the schemes include a 20 percent increase in financial support for displaced beneficiaries. Additionally, the maximum subsidy limit for the rural scheme has been raised by 5,000 euros for all family types, and income eligibility criteria have been increased by 5,000 euros. Interested applicants can submit requests to their respective District Administration offices until December 31, 2027.
