BYD announces new Blade Battery 2.0 and FLASH Charging technology

The manufacturer BYD has unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery and a new FLASH Charging system. The charging technology supports up to 1,500 kW of power through a single cable. According to company data, a charge from 10% to 70% can be achieved in five minutes, while reaching 97% takes nine minutes. In extreme conditions, such as -30 °C, the system can charge the battery from 20% to 97% in 12 minutes. The updated battery features a 5% increase in energy density, enabling a claimed range of over 1,000 kilometers under the Chinese CLTC testing cycle. These developments are aimed at addressing consumer concerns regarding charging times and vehicle range. The project follows internal research conducted by BYD to identify primary barriers to electric vehicle adoption.
