New center for multiple sclerosis patients opens in Nicosia

On Friday, Cypriot Minister of Health Neofytos Charalampidis inaugurated the new premises of the Cyprus Multiple Sclerosis Association in Nicosia. During the event, it was announced that approximately 3,000 people in Cyprus currently suffer from the chronic autoimmune condition affecting the central nervous system. The Cyprus Multiple Sclerosis Association, founded in 1986, operates on a volunteer basis to provide services such as physiotherapy, home care, psychological counseling, and social support. Globally, the number of patients is estimated to exceed 2.5 million. The Health Minister highlighted that the rising trend of cases necessitates continued support and collaboration between the state and the association. The Ministry of Health expressed its commitment to assisting with ongoing efforts to improve patient care and quality of life. The condition is categorized among the most significant public health issues alongside cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes.
