Annual Evagoreia memorial events held in Paphos

The city of Paphos is hosting the annual 'Evagoreia' memorial events on March 7 and 8 to honor Evagoras Pallikarides, a student and EOKA fighter. On Saturday, March 7, a literary memorial service took place at the First Lyceum of Ethnarch Makarios III, featuring Education Minister Athena Michaelidou as the keynote speaker. The Sunday program, March 8, includes a religious memorial at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Theodoros, officiated by Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus. Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou, Chief of the National Guard General Staff, is scheduled to deliver the main speech during the religious ceremony. The events commemorate the life and sacrifice of Pallikarides for the ideals of liberty. Additionally, friends and fellow activists are set to gather on March 13 at midnight to place flowers, marking the time of the hero's execution. These events are organized by the Cultural Association 'Evagoras Pallikarides' to preserve the historical memory of his contribution.
