Lefteris Petrounias wins silver at Baku Gymnastics World Cup
Greek gymnast Lefteris Petrounias won the silver medal in the rings final at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. Petrounias recorded a total score of 14.300, consisting of a 5.6 difficulty score and an 8.7 execution score. The gold medal was awarded to the 23-year-old Russian athlete Ilia Zaika, who achieved a total of 14.600 points with a 5.7 difficulty rating. Japan's Kiichi Kaneta secured the bronze medal with a score of 14.233. During the qualification round, Petrounias had previously taken first place with a score of 14.466. Other Greek results included Magdalini Tsiouri, who finished 6th in the uneven bars with 12.666 points, and Nikos Iliopoulos, who finished 6th in the horizontal bar final with 13.466 points. This event marks the first competition of the year for the Greek team.
