Diver dies during excursion at the Zenobia shipwreck
On March 7, 2026, at 09:40, the Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Centre received a distress signal concerning a diver near the Zenobia shipwreck. The victim, a Greek Cypriot male, was a diving instructor who had been leading two trainees. When the trainees noticed the instructor in distress, they surfaced and alerted the authorities. The Marine and Port Police dispatched a speedboat to the site to recover the man. Upon rescue, he was transferred to a waiting State Health Services Organisation ambulance. He was subsequently transported to Larnaca General Hospital, where medical staff officially pronounced him dead.
