Diver dies at the Zenobia shipwreck off Larnaca

On March 7, 2026, a 67-year-old Greek Cypriot man died while diving near the Zenobia shipwreck in Larnaca. The Joint Rescue and Coordination Centre (JRCC) received a distress signal at 09:40 and dispatched a Marine and Port Police speedboat along with an ambulance service. The victim was retrieved from the water by police and transported to Larnaca General Hospital, where his death was confirmed. While official police reports identified the deceased as a resident of Paralimni, other sources reported that the victim was a diving instructor who had been leading a dive for two trainees.
