Two police officers injured during arrest of 37-year-old in Larnaca

On the night of the incident in Larnaca, members of the MMAD police unit approached a 37-year-old man seen acting suspiciously around parked vehicles. When officers attempted to check him, the suspect entered his car and attempted to flee, colliding with another vehicle while reversing. During the confrontation, the suspect drove toward the officers, striking one in the leg and shoulder with his car door and vehicle, and subsequently hitting a police patrol car. The suspect's vehicle eventually came to a stop after striking an EAC utility pole. Both officers were transported to Larnaca General Hospital with injuries to their legs, shoulders, and necks. Following his arrest, a search of the suspect's vehicle revealed two knives, and he tested positive in a preliminary drug screening. The Larnaca District Court has issued a five-day detention order against the suspect, who faces multiple charges including assault, resisting arrest, possession of knives, and driving under the influence of narcotics.
