Overnight Russian missile and drone strikes hit Kharkiv and other regions

Overnight on March 7, 2026, Russian forces launched a large-scale strike across Ukraine using hundreds of drones and missiles. Ukrainian officials reported that 480 drones and 29 missiles were launched, with air defenses intercepting 453 drones and 19 missiles. Impacts were recorded at 22 sites, including energy and railway infrastructure. In the city of Kharkiv, a ballistic missile strike destroyed a five-storey residential building, with casualty reports varying between four and seven deaths, and at least ten people injured, including three minors aged 6, 11, and 17. Additionally, two people were injured in Chuhuiv, and an infant was reported wounded in Zaporizhzhia. Polish military aircraft were deployed to patrol the border airspace as a precautionary measure. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for increased international air defense support in response to the attacks.
