Casualties reported following Russian strikes in Kharkiv

On March 7, 2026, Russian forces launched airstrikes targeting residential areas in the Kharkiv region. Regional governor Oleh Syniehubov and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that an attack on a five-story apartment building in the Kyivskyi district resulted in fatalities and ten injuries. While some sources reported seven deaths, local officials confirmed four. Among the ten injured are children aged 6 and 11, and a 17-year-old. Additionally, in the town of Chuhuiv, two people were injured by a drone strike on a residential house. A separate airstrike in Zaporizhzhia left one infant injured. Nationwide air raid sirens were activated throughout Ukraine in response to the attacks. In light of these events, the Polish Air Force scrambled military jets to secure its airspace along the border with Ukraine.
