US-Israel military operation against Iran enters second week
Eight days have passed since the start of the US-Israel military operation, dubbed 'Epic Fury', against Iran. Former US President Donald Trump stated that no agreement with Iran will be reached except for 'unconditional surrender', noting that he and his allies aim to eventually rebuild the Iranian economy. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Iran has launched attacks against US military bases near the Baghdad International Airport. According to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the operation cost approximately 3.7 billion dollars in its first 100 hours, averaging 891.4 million dollars per day. The US fleet currently deployed across the Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf, and Eastern Mediterranean includes two aircraft carriers, 14 destroyers, and three littoral combat ships. While the Pentagon has not provided an official cost estimate, analysts suggest that future expenditures will depend on the intensity of operations and the effectiveness of Iranian retaliatory efforts. Experts from the Institute of Policy Studies cautioned that these costs are unpredictable and could reach astronomical levels, potentially impacting domestic policy budgets.
