Analysis of US military operation costs against Iran

Recent reports from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) indicate that US military operations against Iran cost approximately 891.4 million dollars per day. During the first 100 hours of the campaign, total expenditures reached 3.7 billion dollars. Breakdowns show 125 million spent on air operations, 64 million on naval missions, and 7 million on ground operations during that initial period. The US fleet currently consists of two aircraft carriers, 14 destroyers, and three littoral combat ships positioned in the Arabian Sea, the Persian Gulf, and the Eastern Mediterranean. While Lindsay Koshgarian of the Institute for Policy Studies warns that costs could reach astronomical figures, the CSIS projects a potential decline in expenditures as the military transitions to less expensive munitions. Future costs remain contingent on the intensity of operations and the effectiveness of Iranian countermeasures. As of December 2025, 582 US troops are permanently stationed in the Middle East, supported by various rotating units and field artillery.
