Dog rescued after surviving nine days in snowy mountains

A nine-month-old dog named Asproulis was rescued from the Tsoukarela peak near Metsovo after spending nine days trapped in snow at an altitude of 1,900 meters. The dog, owned by Christos Zacharis of Haliki Aspropotamou, had followed a group of French mountaineers into the mountain range and became stuck on steep slopes. A team of Greek mountaineers, aware of the dog's missing status, heard its cries while ascending the same peak. Rescuer Marina Koraki reported that the group split up, with experienced members locating and securing the dog. Despite surviving without food for over a week, the dog was successfully recovered and reunited with its owner. The incident concluded with the mountaineers feeding the dog and escorting it safely down the mountain.
