OEB president addresses regional crisis impact on Cyprus
On Thursday, President of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) Georgios Pantelidis issued a statement regarding the Middle East crisis. The Cyprus government has officially confirmed that it is not participating in, nor will it be involved in, military operations in the region. Authorities have strengthened defense measures with the assistance of allied countries, particularly Greece, following a drone incident at the British base in Akrotiri. OEB reports that business activity remains stable, although some airlines temporarily suspended flights to Larnaca and Paphos. Hermes Airports confirmed that the majority of carriers maintained their schedules and that those who paused operations have since resumed them. Pantelidis urged the government to implement preventative measures to mitigate potential price increases in fuel and raw materials. He also called for targeted support for the tourism and hospitality sectors to avoid economic losses. Public authorities continue to emphasize the importance of reliable information to prevent unnecessary panic among citizens.
