President Christodoulides visits Health Insurance Organization headquarters

President Nikos Christodoulides visited the Health Insurance Organization (HIO) headquarters in Nicosia to discuss the future of the General Healthcare System (Gesy). The President emphasized the need for continuous evaluation and improvement of healthcare services as a key government priority. Key agenda items for the meeting included the management of patient referrals abroad, pharmaceutical supply issues, and the implementation of an actuarial program. Additionally, the President announced a cabinet decision to utilize all National Guard aircraft, including the government plane, to assist citizens requiring urgent transport. By choosing to visit the HIO offices instead of summoning officials to the Presidential Palace, the President aimed to highlight the significance of healthcare and education reform. The government maintains that while Gesy is a major social achievement, it must be subject to ongoing review to address emerging challenges.
