New traffic camera penalty regulations implemented in Cyprus
Effective March 6, 2026, the Republic of Cyprus has implemented changes to out-of-court traffic settlements under Law 91(I)/2024. Following a decision by the Council of Ministers, the new system introduces tiered fines for camera-recorded offences. Specifically, failing to stop behind the mandatory white line at controlled junctions now carries a fixed fine of €25. The legislation is not retroactive and applies only to offences committed from the implementation date onwards. Penalties for running a red light remain distinct, with higher fines and associated penalty points. The police confirmed that all inquiries, payment issues, or disputes regarding the Photo Enforcement System must be directed to the contractor company. Citizens may reach the contractor via the toll-free number 80008009, the international line 22712609, by mail to P.O. Box 17031, 2260 Latsia, Nicosia, or via the website www.CyCameraSystem.com.
