Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez criticizes US-Israeli actions regarding Iran

During a press conference held alongside Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, Sanchez reaffirmed Spain's opposition to what he described as an illegal intervention. Despite receiving criticism from Washington and Donald Trump regarding his stance, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for a spirit of loyal cooperation and equality in international relations. Sanchez clarified that bilateral relations should be grounded in international law and the principles of Atlanticism. Furthermore, he announced that Spain is dispatching a frigate to Cyprus for a defensive mission, citing solidarity with an EU member state that is a victim of the regional conflict. Sanchez attempted to mitigate tensions with the US by expressing respect for the American presidency. He maintains that while allies should assist one another, they also have a duty to point out when a strategic error is being made.
