Nicosia hosts the 25th European Throwing Cup

The 25th European Throwing Cup will take place on March 14-15, 2026, at the GSP National Stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. The European Athletics Association announced that 35 countries will participate, with a total of 284 athletes, including 147 men and 137 women. Several nations, including Great Britain, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, and Turkey, withdrew from the preliminary lists established in December 2025, while Israel did not register. The event will feature top-tier competitors such as Italian shot putter Leonardo Fabbri and experienced athletes like French discus thrower Melina Robert-Michon and hammer thrower Yipsi Moreno. In the women's shot put, last year's top three performers—Jessica Inchude, Katharina Mais, and Maria Belen Toimil—are set to compete. Admission for spectators in Nicosia is free of charge. The competition highlights significant career achievements among participants, with many athletes having experience in Olympic, World, and European championships.
