Four individuals arrested in London on suspicion of spying for Iran

On Friday, British police arrested four men in Barnet, North London, and Watford on suspicion of assisting Iranian intelligence services. The detainees, aged between 22 and 55, include one Iranian national and three individuals with dual British-Iranian citizenship. According to authorities, the suspects allegedly conducted surveillance on individuals and locations associated with the Jewish community in London. Counter-terrorism lead Helen Flanagan stated the arrests were part of a long-term investigation, noting that these activities predated recent military developments between the US, Israel, and Iran. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood confirmed the government is monitoring the situation closely due to concerns for the safety of the Jewish community. While police previously investigated other potential threats linked to Iran, including a separate case involving the Israeli embassy that resulted in no charges, these current arrests remain under active investigation. The suspects are being held under the National Security Act for providing assistance to a foreign intelligence service.
