Cyprus economic growth and labor market performance in 2025
In 2025, the Cypriot economy recorded a real GDP growth rate of 3.8%, significantly surpassing the European Union average of 1.5%. Data from Eurostat indicates that all EU member states experienced growth during this period, with the EU average increasing from 1.1% in 2024. Additionally, the Cypriot Statistical Service reported that total employment in Cyprus reached 519,116 individuals in the fourth quarter of 2025. This figure consists of 466,265 employees and 52,851 self-employed workers. Total employment saw an annual increase of 2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. Furthermore, actual hours worked rose to 244.17 million, representing a 3.3% increase over the same period in the previous year. Authorities attribute these positive indicators to broader expansion in key productive sectors of the economy.
