Flight operations in Cyprus show signs of recovery following regional disruptions
On Friday, March 6, Larnaca and Paphos airports handled 109 flights, signaling a recovery in flight connectivity following disruptions caused by the conflict in the Middle East. Hermes Airports reported 38 remaining cancellations, mostly affecting regional routes, which marks an improvement over earlier figures. EasyJet has resumed services to London, Berlin, Basel, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Bristol, while British Airways and the Lufthansa Group, including Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, and Edelweiss Air, are restoring their schedules by March 7. Airport officials noted that the return to normal operations involves clearing backlogs and repositioning crews. Maria Kouroupi of Hermes Airports expressed confidence in the recovery of the tourism sector. Tourism operators reported that the prior cancellations caused delays in hotel arrivals and operational challenges across the island. Stakeholders are currently working to stabilize flight programmes to protect the upcoming tourism season.
