Case file of suspended Paphos mayor returned to police for further investigation

The attorney-general’s office has returned the investigation file of suspended Paphos mayor Phedonas Phedonos to the police, requesting further inquiry. The file was initially submitted to the Law Office on February 26. The investigation involves allegations of rape reportedly dating back approximately ten years, first brought to light by developer Theodoros Aristodemou. Additionally, separate domestic abuse allegations surfaced following claims by social media personality Ioanna Photiou, who alleged that medical documents from 2017 show Phedonos’ wife, Louiza Andreou, was beaten. Phedonos has denied all allegations, labeling the claims an orchestrated political attack, while his wife has publicly rejected the domestic abuse assertions. Phedonos has already provided a statement to the police as part of the ongoing proceedings. No timeline has been established for the conclusion of the investigation.
