Cyprus transport minister refutes reports of port and airport closures
On Friday, Cypriot Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, visited the Limassol port to address rumors regarding the operational status of the country's transport infrastructure. He personally inspected the DP World Limassol general cargo and cruise terminal, as well as the Eurogate Container Limassol terminal, to verify that port activities remain ongoing. Vafeadis stated that claims suggesting ports or airports in Cyprus have ceased operations are misinformation and entirely unfounded. He emphasized that the country's ports and airports are functioning normally and that the national airspace remains open. The minister expressed concern that such reports negatively impact the Cypriot economy and the workers involved in port operations. Furthermore, he reiterated the government's stance that Cyprus will not be held hostage by regional conflicts. He concluded by affirming that the nation intends to remain a reliable partner and part of the solution in the international arena.
