Airlines resume flights to and from Cyprus amid regional tensions

Several major airlines, including EasyJet, British Airways, and Lufthansa, are resuming flights to Cyprus following temporary suspensions caused by regional instability. Chrysanthos Chrysanthou, president of the Mediterranean Flight Safety Foundation, stated that while the situation remains volatile, Cyprus's airspace remains open and operational. According to Hermes Airports, 84 flights are scheduled for Larnaca and 25 for Paphos, despite ongoing cancellations of 34 flights in Larnaca and 4 in Paphos. While connectivity to Europe is being restored, air links to conflict zones and the Persian Gulf remain suspended due to missile threats. Hermes Airports officials noted that these resumptions signal a return of carrier confidence in the region. The Lufthansa Group is specifically scheduled to restore its full program starting Saturday, March 7. Authorities emphasize that airlines are continuously assessing risks before resuming operations in the vicinity of neighboring military activities.
