Cyprus national judo team participates in the Grand Prix Upper tournament in Austria

Three members of the Cyprus national judo team, Petros Christodoulides (-66kg), Kyprianos Andreou (-73kg), and Odysseas Georgakis (-81kg), traveled to Linz, Austria, on March 4 to compete in the Grand Prix Upper. The tournament is held at the TipsArena from March 6 to 8. Approximately 500 judokas from 62 countries are participating, marking an increase from the 416 athletes from 52 nations in the previous season. Petros Christodoulides, currently ranked 58th in the world, is coming off a 9th place finish at the Paris Grand Slam last month, where he earned 160 ranking points. Christodoulides previously withdrew from the African Open in Tunisia on February 15 due to influenza A. He also opted out of the Tashkent Grand Slam to manage his schedule effectively. Three other Cypriot athletes, namely Zanet Michaelidou, George Krousaniotakis, and Sofia Asvesta, previously advanced to the round of 16 in recent international competitions.
