Cypriot judoka Petros Christodoulides places seventh at Grand Prix Upper Austria
Cypriot judoka Petros Christodoulides finished in 7th place among 47 competitors in the -66kg category at the Grand Prix Upper Austria in Linz, held March 6–8, 2025. This performance earned him 182 world ranking points, bringing his total above 1,000 for the first time and moving him from 58th to approximately 45th in the world rankings. Christodoulides won three matches to reach the pool final before losing to Spain's Garcia Torne. He was subsequently defeated in the repechage by Spanish athlete Nieto Chinarro. His earlier victories included matches against Charlie Young from the UK, Hungary's Pongracz, and local athlete Sherer. The 21-year-old, coached by his father Christos Christodoulides, previously placed 9th at the Paris Grand Slam. Following the tournament in Austria, he is scheduled to attend a training camp in the Czech Republic.
