Police conduct coordinated operations to curb crime and traffic violations
Cypriot police conducted back-to-back night operations on Wednesday and Thursday to maintain public order. On Wednesday, officers stopped 373 vehicles, checked 91 passengers, and inspected 12 establishments, leading to 14 arrests for offenses including assault and illegal residency. During these traffic inspections, 134 citations were issued, 25 of which were for speeding, and five vehicles were confiscated. On Thursday, a second operation involved 311 vehicle checks and inspections of 14 premises. This resulted in 121 traffic complaints, including 69 citations for speeding and three arrests for drink driving and speeding. Additionally, five vehicles were confiscated during the Thursday operation. Officials stated these routine operations are designed to prevent crime and ensure public safety.
