Building collapse at nursing home and clinic in Belo Horizonte

A four-story building housing a nursing home and an aesthetic clinic collapsed early Thursday morning in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. At the time of the incident, 29 people were inside the structure. Emergency services reported eight confirmed fatalities, while rescue operations continue for four people who remain missing. Eight other victims, including a two-year-old child in stable condition, were rescued and transported to local hospitals. An additional nine individuals were assisted by neighbors in exiting parts of the structure that did not collapse. State fire department representative Henrique Barcelos confirmed that the building possessed all necessary permits. An official investigation into the cause of the structural failure is currently underway.
