Domagoj Vida declines assistant coach offer from Croatian national team
AEK Athens defender Domagoj Vida has reportedly declined an offer to join Zlatko Dalic's coaching staff for the Croatian national team ahead of the World Cup. Reports from the Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti indicate that Vida informed both the Croatian Football Federation and Dalic of his decision. The primary reason for his refusal is his intention to continue his professional playing career rather than retiring at the end of the current season. Vida's contract with AEK Athens is set to expire at the conclusion of this season, with possibilities of a potential extension currently being discussed. During the current season, the experienced defender has made 18 appearances for the Greek club. He currently operates as the third-choice center-back behind teammates Telvas and Moukoudi. Vida expressed gratitude for the offer but remains focused on maintaining his active status as a player.
