Ethics committee submits swimming federation report to attorney general
On March 5, 2026, the Cyprus Committee of Ethics and Sports Protection submitted a detailed report regarding the Cyprus Swimming Federation to Attorney General George Savvides. The documents, presented by committee president Stefanos Skordis, include findings from an appointed investigator regarding potential conflicts of interest and legal violations. The Law Office of the Republic will now evaluate these materials to determine if a formal criminal investigation is warranted. Separately, the committee announced the conclusion of its investigation into the football match between Omonia 29is Maiou and AEL. This match, held during the second round of the 2024-2025 First Division Championship, was reviewed by investigators who found no irregularities. Consequently, the case file concerning the football match has been archived. No further action will be taken regarding the Omonia-AEL game.
