Flight disruptions at Cyprus airports due to regional instability
Between March 5 and March 8, flight schedules at Larnaca and Paphos airports experienced significant disruptions due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. On March 5, 45 flights were cancelled in Larnaca and 10 in Paphos. By March 6, cancellations in Larnaca dropped to 39 with none in Paphos, and on March 7, 31 flights were cancelled in Larnaca compared to 3 in Paphos. On March 8, 40 flights were cancelled in Larnaca, while Paphos reported no cancellations. Despite these issues, airlines such as Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, and easyJet have resumed select services. Repatriation flights for Cypriot citizens from Dubai have been conducted by Cyprus Airways and TUS. Additionally, Israeli authorities began a phased reopening of their airspace on March 5, leading to a gradual restoration of connections between Tel Aviv and Cyprus. Passengers are advised to check current flight status on the Hermes Airports website.
