United States escalates military conflict with Iran as Donald Trump demands unconditional surrender
One week into the war, U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded the unconditional surrender of Iranian forces, rejecting any deal that does not involve total capitulation. Trump stated that the U.S. intends to play a key role in selecting Iran's next leadership and dismissed the idea of sending ground troops as a waste of time. While Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian mentioned that mediation efforts have begun, military hostilities have intensified, with Israel conducting major strikes against Tehran and Lebanese targets. Iran has reportedly responded with drone and missile attacks on U.S. bases in Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq, as well as sites in Israel and Azerbaijan. During a recent interview, Trump acknowledged the possibility of retaliatory attacks within the United States. Casualties in the conflict have surpassed 1,000, including six U.S. soldiers. Trump has issued an ultimatum to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, offering immunity to those who surrender, while encouraging Iranian Kurdish forces to launch attacks against the regime.
