Escalation of the conflict between the United States and Iran

As of March 7, 2026, the military conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran has entered its second week. U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded the unconditional surrender of Iran, threatening further destruction and targeting new areas. Reports regarding the scale of damage vary, with President Trump claiming the neutralization of 32 to 42 Iranian naval vessels and the destruction of the Iranian air force, while the Iranian UN ambassador reports 1,332 civilian deaths. Military operations have led to the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, impacting global oil supplies, and displacing approximately 300,000 people in Lebanon. The U.S. State Department has approved a $150 million arms sale to Israel, primarily consisting of 470kg bombs.
