Ethnikos Achnas appoints Vesko Mihajlovic as new head coach
Ethnikos Achnas has officially appointed 57-year-old Vesko Mihajlovic as their new head coach to replace Rui Ferreira. The decision by the administration led by Kikis Filippou follows a period of poor results, including three consecutive league defeats. Ferreira’s departure was prompted by both the team's declining performance and management concerns following his conduct after the match against Olympiakos Nicosia. Mihajlovic is expected to lead his first training session on March 11, 2026. The new coach previously worked at Ahyronas Onisilos earlier this season and is valued for his familiarity with the Cypriot championship. The team is currently in a difficult position in the standings and aims to secure survival, with eight matches remaining in the season. Before confirming Mihajlovic, there was widespread speculation regarding the potential hiring of Pambos Christodoulou, who had met with the club administration. The team faces AEK Larnaca on Monday in a critical upcoming fixture.
