Recent fire incidents in Strovolos and Paphos

On Saturday morning, a fire broke out in a second-floor apartment in Strovolos, Nicosia, after 06:26. Firefighters from Nicosia stations utilized four vehicles to extinguish the blaze, which authorities believe was caused by charging drone batteries. Two residents, a husband and wife, were transported to Nicosia General Hospital due to smoke inhalation, and one resident reportedly suffered minor hand burns. Firefighters rescued one or two dogs from the property during the operation. Separately, a vehicle belonging to a 75- or 76-year-old man caught fire on Friday evening while parked at a repair shop in Emba, Paphos. The vehicle had been undergoing repairs following a traffic accident last November. Police and the fire department have blocked the site for further investigation, and the Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) in Paphos is handling the case. Additionally, a 33-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia on March 6 in connection with a separate arson investigation involving a destroyed home.
