Police conduct nationwide operations against crime and traffic violations

Cypriot police conducted a series of coordinated, nationwide operations aimed at crime prevention and public order. Reports from various sources indicate inconsistent figures regarding the outcomes of these operations due to different reporting periods. Some reports mention five arrests, while others cite nine arrests for offenses including drug possession, weapon possession, and illegal residency. Regarding traffic enforcement, data varies significantly between 121 and 394 citations, with speeding, drunk driving, and drug-impaired driving being the primary violations. Officers inspected between 311 and 1,124 individuals during these checks. Additionally, between 14 and 56 establishment inspections were conducted, resulting in varying numbers of reports for non-compliance. Authorities seized between 5 and 22 vehicles as part of the evidence collection and safety measures. These operations are part of a continuous effort to enhance public security through increased presence and targeted controls.
